an ideal long drive : visit to Shangri-la

Sunday, March 18th 2:30 A.M.

...me and saboo left the IIT campus on a bike with no destination in mind, just a plan for a long drive. It was to become the exemplar long drive of all times !! The facet of Mumbai we saw then was only heard in page3 reports or gossiped about.

it was our night or rather morning of acquaintance with the Shangri-la's !!

Wandering like nomads our first stop was juhu beach. A calm night, gushing sound of waters was just amazing. after strolling for 5-10 minutes and having a very intellectual discussion we were again on the bike and taking lefts and right turns at random.

our next stoppage was unavoidable. We were standing outside a beautiful bungalow, 'MANNAT' , in a place which seemed like paradise. Sure it had to be a shelter to a film star. Then the photogenic memory of saboo clicked and he claimed it was the abode of Sharukh ! Yo baby, we were in bandstand, Bandra and saboo was right !

Next we were walking along bandstand ! and again making a few lefts and rights we were outside 2 bungalows side by side 'Mamta' and 'High trees' . This time we were in Pali Hill !!
Mamta was Rang de basanti fame Rakesh Mehra's home and high trees was L&T CEO and MD Mr. Anilkumar's home.

........our next stop was jogger's park !! purchased Re 2/- tickets and we were in the famous 'jogger's park' . It was awesome.

Finally on our way back we saw Taj Land's end and J.W. Marriot.

back in the campus 7:15 A.M. ....tired but thrilled !!

Nostalgic tunes from the gone by days

.......those were the days of DD1 when the air was always full of melodies. I hate cable TV for this one thing that they have snatched away that golden era and golden symphonies. There are millions who must be thinking why I am making a fuss over some bloody tunes, when there are thousands of new ones coming and going everyday. This post is dedicated to all such people and also to those who admire those tunes and have been searching for them. Well dear searchers, seekers your pilgrimage for the holy grail ends here !!!
